Surya Hidayat bin Abd Malik, a Malaysian aged 59, was appointed to the Board of Petra Energy.

He is a member of the Audit Committee, Nomination Committee, Remuneration Committee and Board Risk Management Committee of the Board of Petra Energy.

He holds a Master Mariner Class 1 (Master Foreign Going) from the United Kingdom.

During the period from 1970-1980, he held various positions on board foreign going vessels under different flags. He was engaged by Kontena Nasional in 1980 and he left to join Sarawak Shell Berhad ("Shell") in 1981 and has held various management positions since then in the marine department, supply base operations, logistics and procurement divisions. He was sent on a number of overseas assignments including postings to the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Oman and Holland.

He also held several management positions in Shell. His last posting prior to his retirement in February 2010 was as Contracting & Procurement Country Manager for Shell Malaysia Exploration & Production and Regional Manager for Project Supply Chain for Shell Upstream International – Asia Pacific.

He was also a member of the Board of Trustees for four Shell pension funds.

He is presently an Executive Director of Petra Perdana Berhad, a major shareholder of Petra Energy.

He does not have any family relationship with any member of the Board or major shareholder of Petra Energy. He does not have any conflict of interest with Petra Energy and neither has he been convicted of any offence within the past 10 years.
